Our investors hail from all corners of the world, each with a wide variety of different experiences and backgrounds, but they have one thing in common – to look for those ready to incite and inspire change. Paul Bragiel (Co-Founder of Golden Gate Ventures)
Paul Bragiel is a 3-time entrepreneur and co-founder of Golden Gate Ventures, a venture capital fund with a focus on investments within Southeast Asia and is currently poised to close a new $100 million fund for the region. Bragiel has sat on Uber’s advisory board from 2010-2016 and has collectively invested in seed rounds of over 200 companies that include holdings in billion dollar corporations like Niantic, Unity & Zappos. In addition, he has started regional funds with The Savannah Fund, a seed capital fund focused on high growth technology startups in sub-saharan Africa and in the United States with Bragiel Brothers, an early stage Venture Fund, just to name a few.
JP Lee (CEO & Managing Partner, SoftBank Ventures Korea)
JP has had a diverse career as both a technology entrepreneur and an investor. Currently acting as CEO and Managing Partner at SoftBank Ventures Korea, JP oversees and makes investments in high-tech startups in Asia, Israel, US, and EU. His latest investments include Mythic, SNOW China, Hyperconnect, MyMusicTaste, and Lunit. At SoftBank Ventures, JP explores the phenomenon of technological disruption and looks for technologies that are likely to have the greatest impact on economies, business models, and people. JP aims to discover and invest in startups that have a good chance of making an enormous impact on large segments of society.
Shuyin Tang (Partner at Patamar Capital)
Shuyin is a Partner at Patamar Capital, a social impact venture capital firm that targets risk commensurate returns for its investors while also seeking to unlock better economic opportunities for Asia’s low income communities with a particular focus in emerging markets. Patamar Capital supports visionary entrepreneurs who are building high-growth, high-profit companies that help to solve South and Southeast Asia’s most pervasive problems at scale. Shuyin currently leads Patamar’s investing activities in both the Mekong region and the Philippines, identifying and supporting scalable businesses which improve the livelihoods of the working poor.
Khailee Ng (Managing Partner at 500 Startups)
Khailee Ng is a managing partner of 500 Startups, a Silicon Valley based venture capital firm. To date, 500 Startups has established more than a dozen funds in emerging markets, providing seed capital and growth programs to countries in the Middle East, Latin America and Southeast Asia. Since 2010, the firm has invested in over 1,800 startups in 60 countries. With the firm, Khailee has led more than 180 investments in Southeast Asian tech startups, including Grab and Carousell. His investment activity and industry opinions are featured by Bloomberg, TechCrunch, Wall Street Journal, and Fortune, and the 500 Startups portfolio of companies have collectively raised over $10 Billion USD. Khailee’s investment focus includes global expansion, managing the Southeast Asian fund, and building bridges between emerging markets and Silicon Valley.
Julien Mialaret (Operating Partner in Asia for Idinvest Partners)
Julien Mialaret is an Operating Partner in Asia for Idinvest Partners (former Allianz PE France). Idinvest is a European-based Venture Capital firm with fast-growing extensions in Asia together with a regional office located in Shanghai. Julien is an active investor with a focus on deep technologies, the digitization of industry and enterprise with areas like artificial intelligence, the internet of things, cybersecurity, data analytics, robotics and clean tech. At Idinvest Partners, Julien reviews new investment opportunities in Asia and supports the growth of its portfolio companies to China and ASEAN.
