SLUSH’D – HOW WE STARTED SCALING TO 100 ACTIVE COMMUNITIES AROUND THE WORLD AND HOW OUR JOURNEY CONTINUES IN 2023

Although the Slush year is approaching its end, the Slush’D year kicks off right from the beginning of 2022 and guess what – we will be on at least 4 different continents next year! But before that, let’s shortly sum up how we got here.

SO HOW DID SLUSH’D GET STARTED?

In short, back in 2019, an exceptional individual wanted to do something with the Slush brand and organize a small event for their ecosystem. This was the beginning of Trondheim Slush’D – a small, local startup event from the community to the community. After excellent feedback, we wanted to try whether Slush’D would work on scale. 

In the beginning of 2022, we had no idea where we would be headed with Slush’D but let me tell you, we really found out that there was a lot of demand for a concept like this, and even more excellent organizing teams to execute. We got more than 100 applications to organize Slush’D in 2022 in only 10 days. Quite impressive, huh? And we’re back at it again right in the beginning of January.

WHAT HAPPENED IN 2022?

We quickly found out that the level of the applicants was extraordinary and thus, we went about choosing five extremely engaged independent organizing teams on three continents, to spread the Slush’D magic to their ecosystems. By organizing their local events, they initiated conversations on addressing the key challenges present in the local communities.

The impact of these events was immense. From seeing the sparks in students’ eyes after asking questions from speakers in Tanzania to seeing the Talent Mixer connecting the Slush’D volunteers and start-ups looking for talent in Aarhus, Slush’D perfectly captured our mission of helping and creating founders to change the world.

2023 – SCALING EVEN FURTHER

We are far from being done with scaling our fourth product. By the end of the decade, we are planning to be active in 100 communities around the world in the form of Slush’D-events created by the community for the community. 

In August, we chose six amazing organizers for the first half of 2023 and will start looking for organizers for H2 for the whole of January. Therefore, if you think this is exactly what your ecosystem needs, look no further.
