Knight-Bagehot Fellow at Columbia University

Larry Madowo is a Knight-Bagehot Fellow in Economics and Business Journalism at Columbia University in New York and the BBC Africa Business Editor (currently on a sabbatical). He was named among the 100 Most Influential Africans in 2018 by New African magazine.

He has reported from more than 40 countries and interviewed some of the world’s most prominent business, political and cultural leaders. He is an international journalist, speaker and moderator who has been on such diverse stages as the World Economic Forum, Mobile World Congress, Slush, Global Digital Content Market and numerous others.

His work has been featured on various global outlets including CNN International, the Washington Post, BBC World News, Al Jazeera English, France 24, Channel 4 News, Forbes, The Guardian, the Financial Times, Public Radio International, ABC News Australia and RTÉ Ireland. He has previously worked in Nairobi, London and Johannesburg, gaining nearly 4 million followers on social media along the way.
