Katariina Helaniemi leads Impact.tech operations at Fifty Years. Impact.tech is a San Francisco based event series that brings together scientists, entrepreneurs, and investors who want to learn about new, impactful technologies coming from academia.
Before joining Fifty Years, Kata led the programming for Slush, and was responsible for designing the themes, selecting the speakers, and curating the content of Slush. After leaving her Chief Curator position, she wrote a best-selling book on the Finnish startup culture that was distributed to Finnish high school students nationwide. She believes that the biggest challenges on earth can be solved through tech entrepreneurship, but for that, technology companies should be built by people with diverse backgrounds. Kata loves good conversations, road trips, vinyasas, and sunrises at Burning Man.
