More than 800 people create the technology engine behind the online fashion platform Zalando. A publicly traded company as of fall 2014, Zalando has more than 16 million active users in 15 countries. In August 2015, Zalando celebrated the office in the Punavuori District of Helsinki. The Finland office is Zalando’s second technology hub outside of Germany following the opening of the Fashion Insights Centre in Dublin earlier this year.
Zalando plans to create up to 200 jobs in Helsinki over the next few years, and they’re actively recruiting full-stack and mobile developers, UX specialists, data scientists, and product owners from industry and academia to work on new consumer-facing mobile apps.
“Mobile visits to our shop have already exceeded desktop visits, amounting to 57% in the second quarter of 2015,” says Philipp Erler, SVP Technology at Zalando. “Thanks to its strategic location, strong universities and a firmly established mobile sector, Helsinki provides the best possible environment for our new international tech hub. Furthermore, we want to become an established part of the Finnish tech community and partner up with local startups in the future.” At Slush, Zalando will be announcing some news about their plans exclusively at the event.
Another Slush partner, the software company Comptel, wanted to build an event that the movers and shakers in the digital business both want and need to attend. Something that looks at the digital business landscape with a non-traditional mindset.
The Slush side event, Nexterday North, is about thinking ahead, again and beyond the business landscape with a disruptive mindset. With Slush, Comptel can offer their customers and partners 2 + 2 days of content.
At Slush, Comptel will be meeting visitors on their booth. According to Ari Vänttinen, the Chief Marketing Officer at Comptel, the company is coming to Slush to meet potential partners, to discuss with their existing customers and to find new talents to their internal startup, NXT.
“Slush grasps what is coming and around the corner. We get to meet the game changers of tech and hear the most groundbreaking stories of the year,” says Vänttinen.
