One of the keynote speakers on the Black Stage was Konrad Bergström, Co-Founder and President of Zound Industries. Zound Industries’ idea is to sell, design, develop, and manufacture fashion headphones for the global market through their own brands and private label production. Today Zound Industries has four brands: Urbanears, Coloud, Molami and the licensee for Marshall headphones. At Slush, Bergström talked about designing brands, emphasizing how the product is the hero and how important the brand identity is for a product in order to success.
When creating and designing new brands, companies should go big and loud in order to stand out from the rest. If you don’t make yourself heard it’s somebody else that will. Build a viral story people will talk about and create something people will share. For example, Zound Industries team worked a lot on the product packaging of the Urbanears headphones. This gave the company the whole distribution in the beginning. They had zero money to start the distribution and marketing the product but because the package was different, bloggers and people started talking about it.
Zound Industries has a fantastic team when it comes to products and their designs. They’ve won plenty of awards during the past years for outstanding achievements in design: the Stitch by Molami, Plattan ADV by Urbanears and Woburn by Marshall Headphones won the iF Design Award 2015.
