The doors for the afterparty open at 9 pm and soon after, the party starts. The evening begins with Music Tech Fest’s hackathon premiere in the Puristamo space. #MTFLabs Industry Testbed is organized for the first time ever in Finland, and the Slush Music crowd will be the first one to see what is the outcome of the five-day event.
Live-music wise the evening starts soon after, and with extremely interesting acts. There are three live acts taking over James Brown, the first one being a Finnish newcomer, Thiam. The next one stepping on stage is the winner of YleX’s artist competition, $now. He is a young Finnish talent producing alternative rap rhymes combined with r’n’ and metal music tunes. The final live act on James Brown comes from the other side of the Baltic Sea – Rein from Sweden. Rein is an up-and-rising electronic music maker with a punk twist. The program at James Brown ends with a DJ set from Axel Thesleff, a Finnish DJ producer famous all over the world. During the night, we’ll be hearing electronic sounds inspired by modern base music.
On Donna Summer, in the Puristamo space’s disco cave, we’re hearing funky tunes and sweet electronic sounds when Sam Aaron, Nicc Johnson and John Acquaviva take over the stage. Sam Aaron is a music maker programming his music live on stage. Nicc Johnson, born in Ibiza and a resident DJ in a local well-known club, plays his electronic tunes straight outta Australia right after. The evening gets its beautiful ending once John Acquaviva, an American DJ producer and an investor, with tens of years of experience in playing gigs all over the world, takes over and brings the story to an end.
In addition to all this good stuff, there is the Lapin Kulta Jam going on in the Hima&Sali restaurant. The jamming session is hosted by one of the most legendary inhouse drummers, Brady Blade, who’ll orchestrate the playing of the groovy tunes by anyone coming over.
