The idea of GreenRiders came around six years ago when founder Oskari Räisänen was stuck daily in traffic jams around the Helsinki area. He realised that most of the cars have only the driver onboard and that commuting between home and work was creating most of the congestions.
Oskari, what is GreenRiders all about?
“GreenRiders is an online and mobile solution that provides an effective, trusted, and socially rewarding way for people to share their rides and reduce emissions. It is the missing link of public transportation.”
Why is GreenRiders the right company to do this?
“We have five years of experience in creating innovative ride sharing solutions for vertical customer segments. Our team is motivated and experienced.”
What was your biggest source of inspiration while building GreenRiders?
“My daughter Osla. The change we are creating affects future generations most.”
What brought you together as a team?
“Passion towards being a change maker. Shared goals and sense of humour.”
What is the main reason that you work well together?
“Respect. We are all professionals in our own fields. We respect each other but also challenge when needed.”
Tell us three things about GreenRiders that is going to surprise us?
1. We are currently global leaders in ride sharing solutions for employees commute.
2. Many Finnish companies have reserved their best parking spots for GreenRiders users already.
3. Once a month our team dresses up in animal suits for the workday.
What problems have you faced while building GreenRiders?
“Changing the transportation habits of people is the largest challenge we have been facing.”
How did you resolve those problems?
“We have not solved the problem 🙂 Its a constant process where we are innovating new ways to change transportation habits all the time.”
What makes a great entrepreuner?
“Good attitude and passion. Skills to attract and manage great people that fit together as a team.”
