Slush is an intense experience. Having 30+ meetings a day or just taking in all the wisdom at the stages puts a serious strain on our minds and bodies. The number of meetings can go up to an extent. Before reaching the maximum amount, however, the quality starts going down. It is hard to keep focus and sustain your passion. One might be tempted to take a break, step out of the venue and smoke a cigarette. This year, for the first time, we have a better option for you.
Next to the Food Market, Oasis serves food for the soul. And mind. On the menu, we have various possibilities for clever breaks. Clever breaks give your rational brain a rest, activate your body and help to disconnect for a moment to connect back again.
At Slush office we have this thing called 3 o’clock squats. Every day we gather around for 5 mins and let the music flow to throw ourselves into a silly aerobics session. The sessions fill the office with energy and joy. Such a great way to make work more fun and much more productive.
Many come to Slush with a berserker attitude – “I will crunch these 2 days full, no sleep, no breaks and recover next week!”. We get it. Breaks can, however, be the most valuable time you spend at Slush. Being extremely invested in your business for a long time can make the mind run in circles. A break to disconnect will enable you to return to it with a fresh perspective and new energy. Disconnection is what creates flow and flow is what creates breakthroughs in thinking.
We have one more gift for you: we’ve made sure you can take Oasis everywhere with you. Here is a 6 minute guided Oasis meditation for your Slush journey. Listen to it on the bus or in the tram, between meetings, before going on stage or during a break between talks. Take a seat or lie down, put your headphones on and close your eyes. You will resurface recharged, focused and calm.
