Joe Schorge is the Founder and Managing Partner of Isomer Capital, based in London and focused on European early-stage venture capital. Isomer accesses high-potential opportunities in European technology through limited partner investments in funds, company co-investments, and providing liquidity to firms and founders via secondary purchases. Joe has spent 25 years’ working as an LP, GP and technology operations executive, previously at Pomona Capital, a leading global secondaries firm, and at Cambridge Associates responsible for advising institutional investors on private equity investments. Joe began his career in information technology operating roles at Invensys plc (now Schneider Electric) in the US and Europe. He received a BS Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth and an MBA from London Business School.

David Dana

Head of VC Investments, European Investment Fund

David is heading the VC ICT Team of the EIF, representing circa EUR 1bn of commitments per year, where he has been working for almost ten years. Previously, he has been in charge of the investments in VC funds in France, Israel, and of a specific mandate to support the diversification of the economy of Luxembourg. David was also overviewing EIF activities with Accelerators.

David has been investing in all the sectors covered by EIF investment programs, such as ICT, Life Sciences, and Cleantech. To date, David made 40+ commitments in VC funds (approx. EUR 2bn of commitments) from micro-seed strategies to growth financing. David is EIF’s representative in a large number of funds across Europe and a regular speaker in industry conferences and tech events.

Prior to joining the EIF, David spent two years at PwC Corporate Finance where he was in charge of fundraising activities for start-ups and businesses valuations.

David started his career in the Private Equity department of Société Générale Asset Management in Paris for five years, where he was part of the VC fund-of-funds team.

David holds a Master Degree in Financial & Tax Engineering from ESCP-EAP Paris, a Master Degree in Portfolio Management from University Paris XII, and a Master Degree in Finance & Management from University Paris I La Sorbonne.

Kevin Monserrat is the co-founder & CEO of PK2M and Consilience Ventures (CV), which redefines startup financing by creating a member-only funding club for startups, investors and advisors. The model revolves around a blockchain-based token, which allows investors to pool their funds, diversify their risks and increase the liquidity in the fund whilst enhancing the access to funding for startups, allowing them to execute faster. Kevin’s background is in helping companies launch and grow, and he has funded several tech companies when he was the Head of Ecosystem at Microsoft Scale Up London. At Microsoft Kevin was in charge of key partners such as, CVCs, VCs, PE firms, FOs, accelerators and Universities at a time when Microsoft’s UK portfolio was raising about $100 million a year. Kevin holds a master’s degree in Business Innovation and Entrepreneurship from INSEEC Business School, France.

Ilkka is Founding Partner at Maki.vc, a Finnish venture capital fund investing in seed-stage deep tech companies and distinctive brands. He’s a serial entrepreneur-turned-investor with over 20 years of experience from both sides of the table: he was the first investor and former chairman of Wolt, sat on the board of Beddit before it was acquired by Apple, and he has also served as a SVP of SAP AG after selling his own company to the industry giant.

Ilkka is passionate about developing the Nordic startup ecosystem – he is co-founder and board member of Finnish Startup Community, has chaired Slush and Startup Sauna, served on the boards of student-led VC Wave Ventures and Europe’s biggest hackathon Junction, as well as acted as the Head Coach for Startup Sauna. He also sits on the Aalto University Board, and his contributions to the startup ecosystem have earned him an honorary doctorate from the university.

Ian Connatty – Managing Director, Funds

Ian manages the Funds activity of British Patient Capital. He is responsible for developing British Patient Capital’s investment strategy and investment process, as well as supervising all investment transactions – especially at the advanced due diligence stage and legal completion.

Ian joined British Patient Capital from the British Business Bank, which he joined at its formation in late 2014. Prior to that, he was part of the Bank’s predecessor, Capital for Enterprise Ltd. He brings with him a wealth of experience, including close involvement in the development of the Venture Capital Catalyst and Enterprise Capital Funds portfolios which have invested in 41 funds to date, facilitating more than £1bn of investment in over 400 smaller businesses. He previously worked in corporate finance at technology company Infinity SDC and in financial modelling at the Royal Bank of Scotland.

The event will consist of panels by both experienced industry veterans and up and coming names, mingling with your peers, and the chance to discuss funding venture capital in-depth in a more intimate setting than the usual GP/LP summits.

  • Midday: a light lunch is served
  • 12:45 pm: opening remarks by PwC and Slush
  • 1-6 pm: Panels on the venture ecosystem and LP insights from experienced investors in the scene, separate round table sessions specifically on investing in venture, VC model 2.0 and other LP-relevant topics.
  • 6 pm till late: Drinks and networking
