Side Events

Originally a two-day event, Slush has now become an entire week of exhilarating programs around the Helsinki Metropolitan Area. In addition to the events organized by Slush, including our Official Slush Side Events, there is a wealth of industry and theme-specific gatherings all adding up to the Slush experience.

Most Side Events do not require a Slush Pass.

Side Events

Slush is all about gathering people from all around the world together to share their passion and enthusiasm for entrepreneurship. We want Slush to be a 100% positive experience for all of our attendees from the beginning till the end. This is why we do not accept any kind of disrespectful behavior at any of our events.

Let’s make sure that all of us can have a great time regardless of what we look like, where we come from, and who we are.

Code of Conduct

If something disturbing happens to you or you see something disturbing happening at the event, please reach out to our Security Helpdesk (located next to the southern cloakroom) or our team.

Slush is an EkoKompassi/EcoCompass certified event, and this is just the start. Whether it is reducing our environmental footprint by using only tap water and biodegradable disposables, promoting diversity and equality for social inclusiveness, or with strict recycling practices, we set the bar high for minimizing the harm we do while amplifying the good.

In 2019, Slush conducted its first third-party carbon footprint calculation covering emissions from the event, our year-round activities, as well as attendees’ flights, hotels, and meals for their stay in Helsinki. Our footprint was calculated using 2018 data, and the resulting CO2 per attendee figure was used to estimate emissions for 2019. The result? 8,829 tonnes of CO2.

Armed with a better picture of where our emissions come from, our next step is to proactively find ways to reduce that footprint, for example by creating a carbon budget for our team travel, creating a better inventory system for the materials used in the design of the event, and thinking of new ways of scaling our influence beyond events. While we are on this journey towards not just carbon neutrality, but a carbon positive future, we have to offset our emissions. This year, along with our partner, our climate investment has gone towards a REDD project to tackle deforestation in Brazil.

Remember, all food items including candy wrappers, plates, cutlery, and cups are biodegradable at Slush, so throw it all into the organic waste bin!

Use public transport

Use public transport to get to the event – with 8,800 people joining, these individual choices really do add up… and can save you precious time avoiding traffic!

You can save a lot of disposable cups by bringing your own reusable water bottle to fill up at our water stations.
