5 Reasons to Join Slush as Team Lead

Are you looking for a unique leadership experience? An experience of a lifetime even?

We love to acknowledge the wonderful contribution of our volunteers who make the so called Slush Magic happen. However, our amazing Team Leads, who work to make all concepts happen during the Fall, are the real superheroes.

Our Team Leads are the backbone of our volunteer structure, consisting of Team Leads, Group Leads, and volunteers.

Slush is one of the largest and most influential startup events in the world, bringing together thousands of entrepreneurs, investors, and tech enthusiasts from around the globe.

Here are five reasons why becoming a Team Lead at Slush can be just the unique career move and experience you need:

1. Be part of a community and build relationships

One of the best things about volunteering at Slush is the community you become a part of. You will meet like-minded individuals from all over the world who are passionate about technology and startups.

Being a Team Lead offers an opportunity to make new friends, network with people in your industry, and build relationships that can last a lifetime. If you are looking for a way to get involved in the startup community and make a difference, Slush is the perfect place to start.

“Year after year I keep wanting to come back because of the love for the strong Slush community”

2. Experience the world’s leading startup event behind-the-scenes

Being a Team Lead at Slush means you get to experience the event from behind the scenes, and usually we like to call it a first-class ticket.

You will be a part of the Slush team throughout the Fall, from helping to organize different Badge Claim points, the logistics of our Slush 100 pitching competition, to coordinating the overall program and speakers inside Messukeskus walls.

The list goes on as you will have the chance to apply for a team out of Comms & PR, Finance and Tickets, Limited Partners, Investors, Marketing, Meeting Operations, Startups, Partnerships, People, Production, and Program. You will have the opportunity to see closely how different large-scale concepts are run at Slush.

“It was a once in a lifetime experience to be a part of organizing an event in the scale of Slush”

3. Learning about the startup ecosystem

One of our core values is curiosity.

We believe you get far by asking a lot of questions and having the curiosity to think outside the box. Slush is a great place to learn about the latest trends in technology and the startup ecosystem.

As a Team Lead, you will be at the forefront of innovation, interacting with startups, investors, and other key players in the industry. You will get the unique opportunity to learn from industry experts about the latest developments in technology and entrepreneurship.

“The best thing about being a Team Lead was challenging myself and learning new things about the ecosystem”

4. Gaining leadership experience

As a Team Lead, you will gain valuable leadership experience that can be applied to any industry or career path.

You will have the opportunity to recruit and lead a team of volunteers, manage concepts, and make critical decisions that impact the success of the different concepts. This can be a great way to develop your leadership skills and gain practical experience that can be applied to your future leadership roles, while having loads of fun along the way.

“Being able to train my leadership skills was the best thing about the Team Lead position”

5. Your first step to becoming a startup founder, operator, or VC

Slush is all about relevance over scale, meaning we really value our startup founders, operators and investors.

As a Team Lead, you will gain a unique perspective on what it takes to run a successful startup or venture capital firm. You will have the opportunity to work with industry experts, startup founders, investors, and gaining valuable insights and knowledge that you can apply to your future career goals.
