China’s massive population and geographical diversity have shaped the country into a unique place for the development of tech and entrepreneurship. Slush Shanghai gives an opportunity to its global community to keep all the uncertainties aside and focus on opportunities, channels, and partnership. That’s also why the theme for this year’s Slush is Trust the Different.
Ever since last October when Slush was organized for the first time in Shanghai, people have impatiently been waiting to see what this year’s event will showcase. On October 12-13, the two–day Slush Shanghai will open its doors to over 3,000 people. The venue at Changyang Valley is the home to the three stages where all the main action will take place.
On the Main Stage, there will be keynotes by top–tier speakers such as JP Gan, Managing Partner at Qiming Venture Partners, Gus Gostyla, Head of VC & Startups at Google Play, and Edith Yeung, Head of 500 Startups Greater China. Furthermore, on stage there will be interesting panel discussions on topics such as Investing in China’s Consumption Upgrade and Trends in Startup Investment & Financing. Take a look at the full program here.
The Pitching Stage is fully dedicated to startups, and startups only! During Thursday and Friday, this is the place where attendees will experience and encounter fascinating pitching ideas. 30 startups will take the stage in order to win the main prize at this year’s Pitching Competition. The winner will receive the possibility to a 3 000 000 RMB credit loan. On top of that, the winning startup will receive paid trips to both San Francisco and Finland, including a chance to pitch at Slush Helsinki.
The media stage, Slush Café, is where we invite our top guests and speakers to join us for a cup of coffée and engage in fireside discussions with the audience. Off stage, there will be a Demo Area where startups have the possibility to showcase their products and a two-story Meeting Area where investors and startups may create future business leads. In order to navigate easily at the venue, we encourage all attendees to download the Slush Shanghai app. With the app, attendees can find all event-related information.
Besides the main event, Slush Shanghai has been organizing various community events and side events, including Slush Up! Chengdu and Slush Up! Shenzhen in two second–tier cities in China, which outstand in entrepreneurship and innovations. The idea to organize Slush Up! in these cities was initiated due to the increasing innovative scene in Southwest China (Chengdu) and the importance of Shenzhen from an entrepreneurial perspective. Slush Up! gathered approximately 1,000 attendees in total and is likely to expand to other cities in China in the near future.
