CEO of DIY co., co-creator of Vimeo, developer of CollegeHumor.com, and a published author. What is Zach Klein if not an internet era superstar? Klein is making his Slush debut this year, coming to talk about children, education and the future.
Before founding DIY, Klein became known for founding Vimeo in 2004, together with Jake Lodwick. The service is remembered for being the first service to offer Full-HD videos online back in 2007. Klein is also the author of the best selling book Cabin Porn, which offers readers inspiration for creating their dream wilderness getaway cabins. Klein also had his hand in developing CollegeHumor.com – further proving his creative talent online and offline over and over.
Even with plenty of success under his belt, Klein is a man who looks firmly to the future – and DIY co. does not deviate. They have two main services: the DIY app and JAM.com, which both offer children and teenagers an environment to develop new skills, from a selection of 125 spanning from app development to zoology. Wide variety guaranteed. Safe to say Mr. Klein has plenty to share on how to prepare our children for jobs that don’t exist yet, which is the topic of his talk.
However, he won’t be on stage alone! Klein will join forces with Linda Liukas, Founder of Rails Girls, to discuss what the future of work will look like. Liukas is best known for creating the award-winning Hello Ruby book series. The series teaches children about the internet and technology in child-friendly terms. Complementing the setup for this one, indeed.
