As many reports state, the music industry is doing pretty well. According to IFPI’s Global Music Report, the industry has experienced a %5.9 growth in global revenue, mainly due to digital and streaming revenues growing with extremely high speed. The adoption of the digital era among music business is a key factor in the ongoing growth. Now that it has been realised, the industry can focus on finding new ways to drive the digital change. One way to thrive, while the positive change is transforming the industry, is by making new ideas flourish through the work of the entrepreneurs.
At Slush Music, the eyes will be on the entrepreneurs, their startups, and their brilliant ideas. During the two days on Nov 28–29 in Helsinki, 20 startups may rise on stage and pitch in front of the impressive jury and the 2,500 headed Slush Music crowd. The 20 finalists will be selected through a preselection process for which the application is now open and closes on Oct 31.
In the event itself, there will be four different categories that will be filled with the most promising startups. The startups are chosen according to the hopes and dreams of the jury in charge of each category. All the categories host five startups.
To make this pitching experience even more attractive, we’ve got some great partners who’d like to congratulate our winners with very beneficial prizes. ReedSmith will offer one winner €10k in legal services, TechStars Music is inviting all the four winning teams for a dinner. In addition, Amazon is rewarding winners with sponsored access to Amazon Web Services (AWS) and with one-on-one sessions with AWS senior engineers. Other mouthdropping prices will be announced closer to the event.
Ps. One startup participating in the competition is already announced! Take a look at our article on Audiu, a UK based software provider who already pitched their way to the top 20 through Sonar +D Startup Garden’s pitching competition.

Who’s in charge here? That question has been asked all over Slush Music this year. Who’s in charge of rights? Who’s in charge of data? Who’s in charge of the industry? While these conversations are going on, it’s been reiterated constantly that the Nordics are known for community and to dismantle the traditional hierarchical structure. […]
Scott Cohen, Founder of The Orchard, says he has people come up to him all the time, saying the same thing: “The music industry is broken, but I know how to fix it.” We’ve all heard this, at least the first part. Many people seem displeased with the state of the industry today. Cohen, on […]
