“DNA: We want to partner with creative companies like Jolla. I am proud to announce that the first Jolla phone will be sold in DNA popup shops on the 27.11 here in Helsinki!”
Today at the Blue Stage of Slush, Jolla’s co-founder Marc Dillon followed these announcements by revealing that first Jolla phones will be sold on the 27th of November by their Finnish operator partner DNA. Their pre-order customers will also be receiving invitations to the pop-up store that is being set up in Narinkkatori in the center of Helsinki.
This comes as a great addition to a press release yesterday, when Jolla announced a deal with Nokia to provide HERE maps and location services to its Sailfish mobile operating system. They also announced a deal with Russian Android application market Yandex.Store, which gives the future Jolla users access to over 85 000 applications. These 85 000 apps include some of the most popular Android apps like Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare, Skype and Angry Birds, so Sailfish users are able to enjoy their favourite services from the day one.
Dillon also went through the company’s highlights since last year’s Slush and the launch of Sailfish at the main stage. After getting off the stage, the whole company reflected on their defining moment and started planning for the path that led them here. They hired a lot of talented people that were also willing to work outside their previous expertise and do groundbreaking work – a lot of it. Jolla also kept spreading the movement by opening new offices and meeting hundreds upon hundreds of developers around the world who understood them and shared their vision.
Dillon also gave a lot of credit to the enthusiastic fan movement that has grown around Jolla during the year and among other things all the great memes that the fans have created.
“It’s humbling and I am honoured that people are gathering around us. We do this for our self and for our fans.”
