Last fall, Slush introduced an entirely new event to its lineup – a music, startup, and technology conference Slush Music. In 2017, Slush Music will continue where it left off and expand to a two-day event. In addition to that, Slush is now welcoming two new verticals: Slush Y Mobility and Slush Y Science. These industry-focused events are answering the question of why we should keep our entrepreneurial eyes on fields of mobility and science.
With the advent of shared, autonomous and electric vehicles, an increasing supply of renewable energy sources, completely new modes of transportation and numerous other advancements in technology, the discussion on mobility is more intriguing than ever before.
Slush Y Mobility is a four-hour event on the future of Mobility for up to 1,000 guests. During the event, we wish to study the changing mobility landscape through these four lenses: 1) the current and future mobility technologies 2) the changing values, behavior, and capabilities of people 3) the legacy and future of urban planning and governance and 4) the planetary boundaries. Organized together with Demos Helsinki, this is an event devoted completely to startups, investors, thought and business leaders whose hearts beat for mobility.
In the similar fashion, Slush loves science too. That’s why it is no wonder that the second Y-event focuses on exactly that. There is an increasing interest in the world-changing possibilities of science-based business and startups. Simultaneously, the scientific community is turning its attention towards the business world, to put into concrete action their discoveries and contributions to society.
We want to bring forth the value of a science-based business, and encourage scientists to embrace a different way of thinking about making an impact. Together with the University of Helsinki, HiLIFE and Helsinki Think Company, Slush Y Science brings together all those who are enthusiastic about science, business, and the future.
The City Will Be Pouring Side Events
It’s not only the verticals that take over Helsinki. Workshops and meetups, lunches and brunches – name it, find it. The whole city will breathe entrepreneurship during the Slush week 27.11.-1.12. In addition to Slush-branded events like Founders Day and Investor Day, several industry-specific gatherings take place in the lively capital of Finland. Any local organization or individual can organize their own get-togethers and post them on Slush website.
