GIA startups are in the frontline of developing both local and global solutions to implement the Agenda 2030, and to meet the Sustainable Development Goals. The Slush GIA program focuses on supporting them by connecting the Nordic and global impact networks and enhancing the mobilization of capital towards impactful business. In 2016, we received over 1,300 applications from which 40 founders were selected to participate in the 10-day long bootcamp in Helsinki. This year, Slush Global Impact Accelerator brings tens of impact-driven entrepreneurs from 20 countries to Helsinki.
The first Slush GIA Pitching Competition will be organized in Kosovo on June 7. During the next five months, Serbia, Tunisia, Zambia, Ethiopia, Mozambique, South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania, Lebanon, Palestine, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Jamaica, Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Vietnam, will follow. Winners of these local pitching competitions will fly to the North in November, joining Slush 2017. Described as a life-changing and eye-opening experience, adventuring through the Slush GIA has not only been the next step but also a huge leap for the startups that have participated the program.
